Contraindications
Print PageIf you are a woman, you cannot take testosterone during pregnancy to avoid giving birth to a son with Klinefelter syndrome. The genetic problem already occurred when the cells divided and is irreversible. Do not take testosterone while you are breastfeeding, as it will adversely affect your child through the milk. The benefits do not outweigh the risks.
If you are a man, you cannot take testosterone if you have any of these pre-existing conditions:
- Known hypersensitivity or allergy to testosterone
- Existing cancer of the breast or prostate gland
- Severe heart, kidney, or liver disease
- Excessive calcium in the blood (hypercalcemia)
